Becoming a Weight Loss Success Story
Many people like to read about the weight loss of others because it helps them feel motivated and shows them that if other people can lose weight using a particular diet system, they can too. There are qualities that are present in almost every success story like determination, support, goals, and motivation. Here are a few tips on how to become your own weight loss success story.
Motivation
Some people use the success of others to motivate them, while others use pictures of themselves when they had healthier bodies or a certain piece of clothing they would like to fit into. Sometimes motivation comes from the desire to live long enough to be a grandparent or fight against diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure. No matter the motivating factors are, it takes motivation to succeed using any weight loss plan.
Determination
Weight loss is hard and it takes determination to consistently fight against cravings and keep up an exercise program for a long period of time. Most healthy weight loss doesn’t happen overnight and some dieters succeed at losing weight against overwhelming odds because they are determined and fight against obesity with everything they have. Sometimes determination comes simply because many people have told the dieter that they will fail at weight loss and they want to prove everyone wrong.
Support
People can, and continue to, lose weight without the support of their friends and family, but most successful dieters have supporters that have exercised with them or helped talk them through a craving or diet setback. Many people find it difficult and time consuming to cook separate meals for themselves and the rest of their family. A person can be much more successful in their weight loss journey if their family is supportive and eats healthy meals along with them. Exercise can also be a fun social activity for a dieter who has a strong support system.
Goals
Setting goals are important in many areas of life, and weight loss is one of them. Many people are more likely to exercise if they have a goal of exercising every day. These people meet that goal by keeping workout clothes and tennis shoes next to their bed every night so they can exercise first thing in the morning. Some dieters use both short and long term goals. A short term goal may be to exercise for at least 45 minutes every day for one week, while a long term goal may be to lose 30 pounds in a year. Having a time frame in mind makes all goals more achievable because there is a sense of urgency.
Success
There is a “u” in success, and a major factor in determining who loses weight and who doesn’t is whether or not the dieter sticks to the diet and exercise plan they have chosen. Almost any diet plan that includes healthy eating and exercise can be used for weight loss success if the dieter has motivation, support, determination, and goals.
